Update on the Israeli-Palestine Confict

There has been progress in making a two-state solution. Many still feel that making a Palestinian State will spawn more terrorists against the Americans and even the Israelis. Also many Palestinians reject the two-state solution. I kind of feel this won't work out well, there will be some people who really hate the Israelis, therefore there won't be peace for both sides. In Gaza, the Hamas Administration is get support and funds from Iran to prepare for future attacks such as maybe a terrorist attack. The Palestinian leader, Abbas is already in talks of considering a peace treaty but it must have its capital in Jerusalem. If they want their capital to be in Jerusalem which Israel has its capital in Jerusalem, it will made things difficult. There will be war between two sides again, fighting over this area of land. When Bush was in presidency, the Israeli-Palestinian Peace was at a standstill. On November the 4th, there will be a new US president. Many people in Israel favor Barrack Obama to win the election, they think he can change the situation and resolve this conflict. I hope he wins, I am no American citizen, if i was i would vote for him.

Afghanistan Peace Building By Dr. Daniel Taylor - RGS Lecture - Bonus Assignment

I used to think that the Afghan War was more about the revenge and less about the Afghan people. After hearing Dr. Taylor's lecture, Afghanistan : Peace Building, I now think that it is more about US revenge, its more about the Afghan people. The 911 incident was a major catastrophe, the World Trade Center collapsed into ruble, many civilians died on the plane and in the building. It was hard to imagine. I remember watching it on the news when it happened, my brother woke all of us up, and I saw the World Trade Center falling apart.

Following the 911 incident, it was the beginning of the War on Terrorism. It has affected many countries in the Middle East, and lead to the Iraq War. The Afghan War started in 2001, the US and the UK launched an invasion to capture Osama Bin Laden, wipeout the Al-Qaeda, and remove the Taliban regime. With the removal of power, the Taliban insurgence were formed. Waves after waves of attacks, many Afghan people suffered from it.

Dr. Taylor is working with his organization, Future Generations Afghanistan. As his people come into Afghanistan to aid the people, the people feel uneasy. They lost their trust in outsiders, they feel that the US and other nations coming into the country was the major problem. Many say they should leave, but would everything be peaceful? Terrorism, and the insurgence will gain power and once again bring terror into are lives. The Afghan people now lost their trust and wants the foreigners to leave, they also can't trust within each other. Each Afghan people create bonds and trust with one another, they will create a sub-clan. They only trust one another if they are in the same sub-clan. Dr. Taylor is using what the sub-clan has and build back Afghanistan from it.

I feel that this whole situation is a mess. The US caused alot more problems now by waging war on terror and going into a country and try to fix it. I feel that after this incident, the viewpoint of the Middle Eastern people has change. People start become prejudice with a brown skin tone. Many people will say if you are Middle Eastern, you are a terrorist. Also the viewpoint of the religious faith has been altered. I don't believe war or violence will help solve anything. Going to war with Afghanistan was not really a great way to resolve this issue. It is Osama Bin Laden and Al-Qaeda who their after, not the whole Afghanistan. I feel many innocent people are plunged into this chaos which they have no reason to be in the first place. By going into the country and try to fix it, wasn't a big help to the Afghan people. It made matters worse. It destabilized the country, and the Taliban insurgency was formed. This is why the Afghan people lost thier trust to the international nations. The US only thinks about war war war, violence isn't the only way to resolve an issue. Iraq was another victim of US mind of violence. I feel that George W Bush isn't doing a great job as being a president, i feel he is best of being in the military ranks. Obama in the other hand, is helping to deal with issue diplomatically, i strongly would want Obama to win the election and soon the war on terror will come to an end.

Dr. Taylor mentioned that, as a whole, people are "veering to the wings of religious thinking". I strongly feel that people tend to use violence or war to solve problems or hide the fear they have. They think if their country holds a strong military, nothing could harm them. With the popular video game consoles, many game developers use war, violence, blood, fighting and so on as their main theme or the fun factor. These alter peoples perspection of how people think of another.

Israeli-Palestinian Conflict

We all have heard about this, and it has been on for quite some time already. Isn't it going to end? Proposals for a Palestinian state are in talks right now. Each side will get half of Jerusalem, the so called holy city. West part will be the capital for the Israelis and the East will be the Palestinians. Making a two state solution is still not going to prevent the conflict between them. They will fight again in the future. This conflict is more about religious conflict, it is part of the Arab-Israeli Conflict. Two nations fighting for the same areas they essentially claim it is theirs. Many people are dying from both sides, in the military and the civilians. A few days ago, a 19 year old Palestinian drove a car into a crowd of soldiers in East Jerusalem, only injuring 15 Israeli. This was not something serious, but it shows how dangerous and how the people feel threatened. Bigger ones than this has happened, the body counts were much higher. Not many people will be safe around these kind of attacks.

Many people thinks this two state solution is the best, but I find the one state solution where it will become a bi-national state with equal rights for all. If everyone had equal rights, they everyone will live happily ever after. Don't Mess with the Zohan is a movie that used this conflict as its plot. If you havn't watched it yet, it is a funny movie and i recommend it. I don't want to ruin it for the people who have not seen it, so...here i go. Israeli guy goes to USA, Palestinian guy sees him, calls more Palestinians and they try to capture him. There are people who dislikes the people that are Middle Eastern, they think they are terrorists and trys to kill them. The Israeli and Palestinian guy worked together to fight off the haters. In the end the community filled with Israelis and Palestinians lived happily and in peace together. When will it end? Till each side is exterminated? I feel making a Palestinian state will bring peace for a period of time, and soon they will wage war again.
